HISTORY

Henderson, Nevada emerged as a township with the construction of the Basic Magnesium Plant and quickly became the main supplier of the “miracle metal” in the country. In 1953, Henderson was incorporated as a city and is now the second-largest city in Nevada.

Arts, culture, outdoor adventure, shopping, history and more are featured in southern Nevada. St. Jude Heart Art, Clark County Heritage Museum, Neon Museum and Murals in the Water Street District are a few of the popular cultural attractions. The Hoover Dam and Lake Mead span the Arizona-Nevada state line in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. The dam is over 700 feet high and is visited by nearly 1 million tourists each year. A hot desert climate in Henderson, NV consists of mild winters, hot summers and nearly 300 days of sunshine. The area receives just five inches of rain annually and snow is very rare.
